Building Bridges to Workforce Solutions

You have an opportunity to pursue, a program to launch, or an institutional barrier to get around. Maybe you want to formalize connections between college students and local employers. Or gain a better understanding of gaps in services for students facing barriers to access and completion. Or find the right partners for a new internship program. My consulting practice focuses on creating paths to meaningful work and socio-economic mobility for people and communities across Nebraska and elsewhere. I also help nonprofit and community organizations grow and thrive using powerful frameworks like Adaptive Leadership (Ronald A. Heifetz, Marty Linsky, Alexander Grashow) and 6 Critical Questions (Patrick Lencioni). In all my work, I use my Clifton Strengths (Maximizer, Achiever, Activator, Learner, Communication) to help you connect the dots between needs and solutions and forge a sustainable path forward. Let me put my experience to work for you.

PLANNING

By nature, I am a planner. I’ve organized and facilitated multiple short- and long-term planning processes for organizations of all kinds. For example, I convened about 30 educators and employers for a community planning process focused on strengthening pathways between K-12 and college or career. I also led a process to create a growth-focused strategic enrollment plan and co-chaired a community college planning effort with the aim of increasing graduation rates for underserved student populations. For example, as VP at a community college, I served as the K-12 lead, oversaw business relationships, worked with funders, and coordinated with government officials statewide. As Executive Director of The Foundry Community in Lincoln, I launched a corporate sponsorship program as well as a pilot internship program with Continue Reading

REVENUE GENERATION

Money matters. During my career, I’ve raised funds for capital projects, programming and staff, primarily in support of education and workforce development—over $16 million in 10 years. I have direct experience in and a track record in donor cultivation and grant writing. I also have years of experience empowering institutional advancement teams responsible for raising revenue, as well as the marketing professionals whose partnership is critical to the success of outreach and fundraising efforts. Let’s Continue Reading

RESEARCH & ANALYSIS

Solid research will point you in the best direction. I can design and implement studies that answer critical questions and surface valuable insights. For example, I led a qualitative study with the Nebraska Department of Labor that pinpointed agency challenges and patterns, both adaptive and technical. My toolbox includes surveys, focus groups, landscape and gap analyses, data coding, and organizational assessments. Let me help you harness research to translate your ambition into measurable, positive, and Continue Reading
